Key Responsibilities: Teach English to secondary-aged students with SEMH and behavioural issues Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of students Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning Work collaboratively with other staff members, including SEN specialists, to support the holistic development of students Adapt teaching strategies to support students' emotional, social, and academic progress About You: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, but experienced candidates with a passion for working with SEMH students and teaching experience will be considered Experience teaching students with SEMH, behavioural challenges, and engagement issues is essential. A creative and flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students who may struggle with traditional learning environments Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic attitude A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Experience working with children that have been exposed to youth offending, youth groups, vulnerable backgrounds. SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Complex Needs Class (Primary) - Newham We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team in a small, specialised class supporting children with complex needs. This role involves working closely with primary-aged students (5-10 years old) who have Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and Learning Difficulties. Based in Newham, this role is available to start as soon as possible. Key Details: Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) Location: Newham, London Start Date: ASAP Salary: £85 - £90 per day About the Role: You will be working in a small class, providing personalised support to children with complex needs. The role will involve sensory-based learning and phonics to support children’s development, helping them to reach their full potential. There is also an element of personal care involved, so you must be comfortable with assisting in this area. Do you have experience in building positive relationships and providing support to those from diverse ethnic backgrounds? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for a Family Engagement Officer to join a MS Primary School based in Newham, working to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will work closely with families to help them understand their child’s unique needs and empower them to navigate available support systems with confidence and compassion. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with families from diverse ethnic backgrounds, ensuring they feel understood, supported, and valued. Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, offering guidance on their child’s SEND or SEMH needs. Communicate clearly and compassionately with families, using a variety of methods including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written communication. Liaise with professionals such as teachers, social workers, and healthcare providers to ensure holistic support for each child. Deliver pastoral support, ensuring families feel empowered to advocate for their children within the school and wider community. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective engagement strategies that support the overall well-being of the children and their families. Attend relevant meetings, case conferences, and training to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEND and SEMH support. Requirements: Proven experience in engagement, communications, or pastoral support, ideally within a SEND, SEMH, or family support setting. A deep understanding of the challenges faced by families from ethnic minority backgrounds, with a compassionate and culturally sensitive approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with both families and professionals in a multidisciplinary environment. A proactive, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude.
