Why is this English Teacher role required?

I am working with a SEND school for pupils with SEMH and other learning needs, based in South East London. The school are seeking an English Teacher to join their permanent staff team as they go through a rapid period of growth to meet the demand for SEND school spaces.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and positive English Teacher who understands the complexities of working with neurodiverse students and who have the skills and abilities to positively impact learning in SEND settings. You will need to be robust and resilient in your role and have a genuine desire to offer the best education to children who have significant and complex mental health conditions and behavioural disorders.

The school is headed by their wonderfully inspiring Headteacher who supports and leads her dynamic and diverse staff team to enable them to be the best educators for the children who attend the school. They will consider ECTs with QTS or those with no experience teaching in this specialist setting, as long as you come with a positive approach to teaching neurodiverse children, you will be considered!

The children you will support will have a variety of needs which can include significant complex behavioural challenges. If you are committed to making a difference in SEND and you have a talent for working with children who have complex behavioural needs, we want to hear from you!

 

English Teacher requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH, Autism, behavioural challenges, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication
  • English Teaching experience
  • QTS
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships and to be a role model
  • A passion for working with SEND is essential
