The role
I am seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant looking to work in a pupil referral unit based in Islington. This unit covers young people from primary all the way to year 11 who are all at risk of not achieving their full potential. To overcome this, the school have adopted a ‘learning to succeed’ motto that is imbedded into everything they do. They aim to break down barriers to learning which could be by improving their behaviour or focusing on core skills such as literacy and maths. As a Learning Support Assistant, you should want to inspire young people and encourage them to achieve the best they can in everything they do. This school is in an excellent city location and has a new purpose-built building with excellent sporting facilities!
The ideal candidate
The ideal Learning Support Assistant for this role must really have a genuine passion for wanting to help young people and push them to achieve the best that they can. As a Learning Support Assistant in a PRU, you should also have the ability to emotionally connect with the pupils and build great rapports that allow them to open up and put their trust in you. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant who wants to develop their skills within SEND and positively impact our younger generation’s lives. Working as a Learning Support Assistant in a PRU can also bring with it elements of challenging behaviour, therefore, the ideal Learning Support Assistant should be prepared and feel comfortable intervening and deescalating difficult situations.
