Are you interested in a career in speech therapy and looking for some practical experience before you go onto further study?

Do you have a passion for working with children with ASD or SEND?

Are you an aspiring SALT (Speech and Language Therapist), SEND Teacher, or Educational/Child Psychologist?

I am looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist provision for children who have (SLCN) Speech, Language and Communication Needs. This is a 1:1role supporting a boy entering year 1 in September. He requires a nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant who will be committed to their role with him. He is supported by the school's Language Resource Base and SaLTs (Speech and Language Therapists) so the appointed TA will have the opportunity to work alongside specialist staff and have access to specific SLCN training and development.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring SEND teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and those looking to expand their experience in special education in a supportive and friendly team environment.  Access to training includes Makaton, Colourful Semantics, ASD approaches and other specialist and general CPD.

SEN Teaching Assistant job overview:

  • Central London Primary School SLCN provision
  • FTE salary £18,2000 - £20,800 (depending on experience) - will be pro-rata to reflect term-time - approx £75-£85 per day - PAYE, we do not use Umbrella Companies
  • 5 days per week – term time only
  • This is a vacant role requiring a dedicated TA who is able to commit to a long-term/permanent post
  • Excellent career starter for aspiring Speech and Language Therapists, SEND Teachers, and Educational/Child Psychologists

The ideal candidate for this SEN Teaching Assistant will be kind and nurturing with a dedication to their career in speech therapy/SEN. You will engage the child in your care with creative tasks which will aid his speech and language, educational, and social development. Emotional regulation can be a challenge born out of a frustration to communicate verbally so a calm and patient approach is essential. Prior relevant experience is also essential for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, perhaps you are considering a Master’s in speech therapy and looking for practical work experience that is relevant to your career journey, or perhaps you are an experienced SEND TA and want to diversify your experience or specialise in a specific area.
