1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Ealing

An outstanding primary community school in Ealing, are seeking a nurturing, engaging, and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join them on a Long-term/Permanent basis ASAP!

The school are very keen on individuals who want to make a difference to a child with ASD, whilst also bringing along their own initiative and energy to the classroom!

The role:

You will be working on a 121 basis with a pupil within year 4 who has displayed challenging behaviours and has a diagnosis of Autism (ASC), because of his needs, the school are looking for someone who is paitent, caring, understanding and pro-active. The child does occasionally need redirecting to enable him to complete his school work.

Reasonable adjustments have been made to provide him with an extremely high level of support. These include: a bespoke package of regular movement breaks, differentiated curriculum, extensive adjustments to his daily routine, chunking tasks into small steps and pastoral elements to support him with his self-esteem whilst he is at work and play.

We require a highly skilled individual with experience in supporting children with Autism.

What to expect working as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

  • As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant you will be supporting a child in year 6 with a diagnosis of ASD
  • This role would be a great fit for graduates, or someone who has real passion and enthusiasm for SEND and would like to pursue a career working with children
  • A long term contract, working for the whole academic year with the prospect of becoming a permanent member of staff
  • Continuous CPD training for all SEN Teaching Assistants
  • The ability to work in a highly supported staff team within a lovely mainstream school
  • Gain the opportunity to make a huge difference to the social and emotional development of a SEN child as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Requirements for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Previous experience with ASD is a must, as well as a passion for SEN.
  • Patience, empathy and commitment to the role is key
  • Proactive and positive about making a difference to children’s development and wellbeing
  • Excel at building relationships with both students and staff
  • Live within commutable distance of Lambeth and surrounding areas
