Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant - ASD/MLD Specialism Teaching Assistant - immediate or January 2022 start

I am working with an established special needs school in Hounslow, seeking passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistants to start ASAP or January!

This is an exciting opportunity for those who are looking to gain practical and clinical experience working with either primary or secondary aged students both 1:1 and in groups.

 

What you can expect as a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant 

  • Your role as a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant will be to support students with MLD/SLD, including Autism. The role will vary from day to day, you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations

  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SaLTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path

  • Continued Professional Development – This school has 5x more CPD than their surrounding schools

  • You will have an opportunity as a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant to make a huge social impact to children who require a holistic and therapuetic approach to their education

  • A long-term contract with an opportunity to transition into a permanent contract

  • Teacher training opportunities – There are multiple routes into teaching that the school offers ranging from 1 – 5 year courses

  • To work in a highly reputable, large special needs school with brand new facilities

 

Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant requirements

  • Educated to degree level - beneficial but not essential

  • Passion for working with young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development - Essential

  • Ideally previous experience (formal or informal) supporting children with autism or other special educational needs - Beneficial

  • A proactive and positive individual who is always striving to meet children's learning needs - Essential

  • Ability to build rapport with children - Essential
