I am looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our incredible school in Wandsworth!

About the School:

  • Caters to children aged 11 to 19 with high-functioning Autism and associated learning difficulties, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Located in Wandsworth, offers excellent public transport links from central London, as well as an on-site car park for convenience.
  • Focuses on providing a therapeutic and creative learning environment to support the students' unique needs and foster their growth.

The Role:

  • As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with the students, providing support and interaction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the therapy team, including occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, to ensure each student receives the tailored support they require.
  • Full-time hours from 8:30am to 4pm, with ongoing training opportunities and excellent prospects for career progression.

Behaviour Traits of High-Functioning Autism and SEMH Needs:

  • Students may exhibit difficulties with social interactions, such as challenges with understanding social cues and regulating emotions in social situations.
  • Sensory sensitivities and emotional dysregulation may contribute to difficulties in managing stressors and responding to environmental stimuli.
  • Some students may display challenging behaviours, such as aggression, defiance, or withdrawal, as a means of coping with their emotions or communicating their needs.
  • Executive functioning difficulties, including impulsivity and difficulties with planning and organisation, may impact students' ability to navigate daily tasks and academic activities.

Who I am Looking For:

  • Aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, clinical psychologists, and counsellors are encouraged to apply.
  • Creative individuals from backgrounds such as musicians, artists, and actors who can bring a fresh perspective to our team.
  • Personal experience with SEN, whether through friends, family, or personal interest, is highly valued.

Why Join the School?

  • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special needs.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Continuous professional development to enhance your skills and career prospects.
