About the School
Here at Parker Smith Inclusion, we are working with a lovely one-form entry primary school in Hackney, who are looking for a Primary Teaching Assistant. The school have a strong and experienced senior leadership team who will be working closely with the successful candidate ensuring the correct support is given, the school are very passionate about the development of all teaching staff with a continuous development programme in place.
The Primary Teaching Assistant Role
As the Primary Teaching Assistant you will be supporting two KS1 children one with down syndrome and the other with global delay, both students have limited verbal communication so ideally, the Primary Teaching Assistant should have experience working with Makaton or PECs. Both students are on a separate timetable from the rest of the school which incorporates the needs of sensory play.
Primary Teaching Assistant requirements
- Passionate about supporting students with SEND
- Ideally the Primary Teaching Assistant would have experience using Makaton and PECs
- Committed to personal development and learning specialist skills
- The successful Primary Teaching Assistant should be proactive and flexible
- Happy to assist with personal care, as the students may need aassistance with both feeding and changing
- The Primary Teaching Assistant should be a team player and build rapport quickly with both staff and students
- Ideally a Graduate or someone with previous SEN experience either formal or informal
