SEND Teaching Assistant - Hackney - September Start

Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a mainstream Primary School based in Hackney with an ARP dedicated to children with Autism and Speech and Communication difficulties and are looking for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support the students from September 2024. 

About the School

This School is a 2-11 two form entry primary school with a Children's Centre and pride themselves on being an inclusive school that values and respects their children as individuals. Within the ARP there are 8 students that are non-verbal and have a diagnosis of autism at reception age. 

SEND Teaching Assistant Role: 

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with high needs children with autism, verbal and non-verbal, complex needs and previously worked within a special school setting. Your day to day will look like; 

  • Supporting the children with sensory learning activities 
  • Assisting with personal care (changing/feeding) 
  • Building confidence and independence
  • Assisting with speech and language difficulties by using phonics or PECS 
  • Being pro-active and having a positive attitude 
  • Able to adapt to all situations and personalities 
  • Supporting the class teacher with the lesson
