I am working with a lovely two-form entry primary school in Ealing, who are looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to work in their Alternative Resource Provision based within the school.

The school is easily accessible by public transport and has on-site parking; they have fantastic facilities and offer amazing training.

A willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training is essential for this role, the school will fully invest in you and support you in your journey with them. You must be hardworking, not afraid to get stuck in, have strong academic skills (maths & english), be patient and empathetic and have a can-do attitude.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to gain practical experience in the field of Speech and Language.

Speech and Language Teaching Assistant requirements:

  • Passion for working with young people who require additional support to access education and social development

  • The ideal Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will have experience working pupils with a variety of SEND

  • The Ideal Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be eager to learn from the schools Speech and Language Therapist

  • Ideally have previous experience (personal or professional) supporting children with autism or other special educational needs

  • A proactive and positive individual who is always striving to meet children's learning needs.

  • Ability to build rapport with children and staff members to ensure all needs are met

What you can expect as a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant:

  • Your role as a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant will be to support a child with special educational needs however the role will vary from day to day, you will be expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations

  • You will be expected to lead small groups and hold intervention teaching sessions, you will be expected to use provided resources to educate the pupils and keep then focused on their work

  • You will be required to manage behaviour, and use behaviour management techniques if needed

  • For aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers, these positions will offer a relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path
