About the Role
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting children with autism? A welcoming primary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated 1:1 LSA to support a Year 1 pupil with autism on a full-time basis. This is a rewarding role that offers scope for career development. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with the child on a personalised timetable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a student with autism in a mainstream primary school setting

  • Implement personalised learning activities designed to develop communication, independence, and social skills

  • Encourage engagement in curriculum-based and structured play activities such as mark making and story time

  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals including speech and language therapists

  • Support the child in developing confidence, routine, and positive interaction with peers

  • Promote an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive learning environment

 

About the Student

  • Year 1 pupil with a diagnosis of Autism (ASC)

  • Limited verbal communication and currently receives half-termly speech and language support

  • Follows a personalised timetable focused on early learning and gross motor development

  • Independent with toileting and no personal care needs at present

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or SEN support worker 

  • Experience working with children with autism and/or speech, language, and communication needs

  • Ability to follow personalised learning plans and adapt activities to the child’s needs

  • Patient, proactive, and committed to helping children develop essential life and learning skills

  • Enthusiastic about long-term progression in SEN and supporting inclusive education
