About the Role
Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Safeguarding - Brent
Salary: £61,553 – £71,325 per annum
Start Date: January
A rewarding leadership opportunity has become available at a dedicated special school in Brent, providing tailored education and therapeutic support for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is looking for a confident, reflective, and child-centred leader who can help drive continued progress and champion an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.
This role will place you at the heart of the school’s strategic development. Working closely with the Headteacher and senior team, you will contribute to whole-school planning, guide high-quality teaching and curriculum development, and support the continuous improvement of pastoral and wellbeing provision. You will also play an active role in safeguarding, behaviour strategy, and maintaining the positive ethos that underpins the school’s success.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading on identified areas such as curriculum innovation, behaviour and wellbeing, assessment, or staff development

Embedding personalised approaches that meet the varied needs of pupils with ASC and SEMH

Coaching and mentoring staff to promote reflective practice and consistent high standards

Strengthening systems that support emotional regulation, communication, and independence

Working collaboratively with external specialists, therapists, and agencies to enhance pupil outcomes

Ensuring families feel informed, involved, and supported throughout every stage of their child’s journey
