I am currently working in partnership with a number of excellent specialist schools and provisions in Harrow. They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Autism Specialist to join their teams of experienced SEND professionals.

This is a full-time role with an immediate start. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is eager to develop their career in the field of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

As an Autism Specialist, you will work with children and young people diagnosed with Autism / ASC and other learning differences. You will play a key role in supporting their academic, emotional, and social development.

You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and specialist teachers, to ensure each pupil receives a tailored, holistic approach to their education.

This position would be ideal for someone who has previous experience working 1:1 or in small group settings with children who have additional needs.

 

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils through creative and sensory-based learning activities such as art, music, and drama

  • Helping to design and deliver engaging lessons alongside the class teacher

  • Encouraging pupils to build independence and confidence through structured routines and positive reinforcement

  • Monitoring progress and contributing to target setting and reviews

  • Collaborating with a range of professionals, including therapists and pastoral staff, to support each child’s development

  • Providing a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students and colleagues

  • Showing patience, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning and growth

 

What we’re looking for:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people with Autism and additional learning needs

  • Experience supporting children in SEN, primary, or secondary settings

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, caring nature

  • A willingness to learn and take part in ongoing professional training
