About the Role
SEND Teacher – Autism Specialist (Sutton)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Sutton, London
Salary: MPS/UPS
Are you an experienced and passionate teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to autistic young people?
We are proud to be working with a wonderful specialist SEND school in Sutton, seeking a Class Teacher to join their supportive and dedicated team from January 2026.
You will lead a small class of 7 pupils, all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), with a range of abilities, from pupils working below national curriculum levels to those engaging with early Key Stage 1 learning objectives.
Working closely with two experienced Learning Support Assistants, you will create a nurturing and engaging learning environment where every pupil can thrive.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver personalised, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of autistic pupils

Use creative and structured approaches to support communication, sensory regulation, and independence

Work collaboratively with support staff and therapists to deliver a holistic learning experience

Track and assess progress, adapting teaching strategies to ensure every child achieves their potential

Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes wellbeing and confidence

Build strong relationships with families and contribute to wider school life
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (applications from ECTs with SEND experience also considered)

Experience teaching pupils with ASC and complex communication needs

A nurturing, reflective approach with excellent behaviour management and differentiation skills

Commitment to inclusive education and a genuine passion for supporting autistic learners
