About the Role

Position: Science Teacher – SEMH (QTS Required)
Start Date: September 2025
Location: Wandsworth
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Are you a passionate and resilient Science teacher with a strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you thrive in a nurturing but challenging environment? We are seeking an exceptional Science teacher to join our dedicated team at our specialist SEND secondary school, which supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated challenging behaviours.

About the Role:
This is not a typical classroom role. Our students may have experienced significant trauma, disrupted education, and struggle with emotional regulation. Many arrive at our school with a negative view of education. Your job will be to reignite their curiosity in science, re-establish trust in learning, and support them in achieving their full potential – both academically and personally.

You’ll be teaching Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a flexible and adaptive approach tailored to each pupil's individual learning and emotional needs. Creative teaching strategies, emotional literacy, and de-escalation skills will be just as important as your subject knowledge.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

  • Proven experience teaching secondary Science – ideally within a SEND or SEMH setting

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and behaviour support

  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students who may be anxious, disengaged, or dysregulated

  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient mindset

  • Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team

  • Ongoing CPD including training in behaviour management and trauma-informed practice

  • A nurturing working environment focused on staff well-being

  • The chance to make a lasting impact on young lives

This is more than a teaching role – it’s a chance to be part of a transformative journey for young people who need it most.

How to Apply:
Please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining your experience and motivation for applying to Jamie Martinez at PS Inclusion.
