Are you a compassionate and committed educator ready to make a real impact in the lives of young people with complex needs?

We are seeking an SEN Teacher to join a warm, supportive, and well-resourced Special Needs School, teaching pupils with a range of needs including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

  • Sensory Processing Difficulties

  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Developmental and Cognitive Delay

This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and can offer a nurturing, structured, and creative learning environment.

About the Role:

You will lead a small class of pupils with complex needs, delivering a personalised curriculum focused on communication, independence, emotional regulation, and life skills. Working closely with a team of Teaching Assistants and therapists, you will ensure each learner is supported to reach their full potential in a safe and engaging setting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering adapted lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
  • Using a wide range of teaching and communication strategies (e.g., visual timetables, sensory-based approaches, PECS, Makaton)
  • Managing and supporting a team of Teaching Assistants
  • Creating a calm, predictable environment that supports behaviour and regulation
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, SENCOs, and families to ensure holistic support

  • Knowledgeable about Autism, SLD, and sensory needs
  • Skilled at using or willing to learn communication systems (PECS, Makaton, AAC)
  • Creative in your approach and confident adapting the curriculum
