About the Role
1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hounslow, West London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day PAYE
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational provision in Hounslow. In this role, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with students who have a range of additional needs, including ASC
(Autism Spectrum Condition), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and ADHD.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are committed to inclusive education and thrive in environments that prioritise student well-being, development, and progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
- Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
- Work closely with the class teacher to support learning activities and lesson delivery
- Help create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Deliver interventions and implement EHCP targets and personalised learning approaches
- Provide emotional and pastoral support to students with complex needs
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly ASC, SEMH, or ADHD
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Good literacy and numeracy abilities
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Background in SEN schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches
- Experience in youth work, care work, or psychology-based roles
- Resilient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
