Location: Hounslow, West London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day PAYE

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational provision in Hounslow. In this role, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with students who have a range of additional needs, including ASC

(Autism Spectrum Condition), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and ADHD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support learning activities and lesson delivery
  • Help create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
  • Deliver interventions and implement EHCP targets and personalised learning approaches
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to students with complex needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly ASC, SEMH, or ADHD
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good literacy and numeracy abilities
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Background in SEN schools, PRUs, or alternative provisions
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches
  • Experience in youth work, care work, or psychology-based roles
  • Resilient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
