SEN Teaching Assistant – Special School (Secondary)
Location: Sutton
Full Time | Long Term Contract

Parker Smith Inclusion are proud to be working with an exceptional Special School for Secondary-aged pupils with Autism, Complex Needs, and PMLD, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a rewarding and challenging opportunity to support young people with a wide range of high and low presenting needs, including physical disabilities. Many of the students require support with personal care, and some use wheelchairs, specialist seating systems, or communication tools such as PECs and Makaton.

Role Highlights:

As a key member of the school community, you will:

  • Establish positive, trusting relationships with students and empathise with their individual needs

  • Offer individualised support and reassurance during learning tasks and daily routines

  • Provide physical support to students including pushing wheelchairs, hoisting, and repositioning pupils (full training in manual handling provided)

  • Support students in developing independence, self-care, and life skills

  • Deliver personal care with dignity, sensitivity, and respect

  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents/carers, and external professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Experience and Skills Required:

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with children and young people with Autism, Complex Needs, and PMLD

  • Knowledge or training in Makaton, PECs, and First Aid

  • A compassionate, resilient, and proactive attitude

  • The ability to support both the educational and personal care needs of learners

  • A commitment to inclusion and the highest standards of safeguarding
