About the Role

SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs (Autism, SLD, PMLD)

South West London | Long Term to Permanent | PAYE Only | Immediate or September Start

£85 - £95 PAYE per day, weekly payment

Are you an aspiring teacherpsychologist, or therapist looking for hands-on experience in a SEND school? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with AutismSevere Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?

We are working with several specialist SEND schools across South West London who are looking for committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join them on a long term to permanent basis. These are full-time roles to start ASAP or in September.

The Role – What to Expect:

  • Supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of needs, including Autism, SLD, PMLD, medical needs, and communication difficulties
  • Working in highly specialised, sensory-rich settings designed for pupils with complex needs
  • Using non-verbal communication tools such as MakatonPECS, or AAC devices (training provided)
  • Assisting with hydrotherapyrebound therapy, and sensory play sessions
  • Providing personal care, support with feeding and intimate care tasks
  • Supporting emotional regulation and managing behaviours that challenge positively and patiently
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists and SENCOs to deliver a holistic and therapeutic learning experience

Ideal for candidates who are:

  • Looking to become a teachereducational psychologistspeech and language therapist, or clinical psychologist
  • Resilient, patient and confident when working in environments with high sensory needs and behavioural challenges
  • Experienced in care, youth work, or education – or are strong graduates with a genuine interest in SEND
  • Comfortable with personal care and swimming/hydrotherapy sessions as part of the school day
