Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with severe and profound learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD)? Do you believe that every student, regardless of complexity of need, deserves access to rich, meaningful, and inclusive education?

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and creative SLD/PMLD teacher to join our welcoming and well-resourced secondary school, which caters for pupils aged 11–19 with complex medical, physical, and learning needs.

About the Role:

As a PMLD teacher in our school, you will:

  • Deliver highly personalised, multi-sensory lessons tailored to the needs of learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties.

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes communication, interaction, and independence.

  • Work closely with a team of specialist TAs, therapists, and medical professionals to provide holistic support to each student.

  • Use a variety of communication methods, including AAC, PECS, Makaton, and sensory stories.

  • Plan, assess, and differentiate the curriculum using EHCP outcomes and individualised learning plans.

  • Collaborate with families to ensure consistency between home and school, and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.

  • Manage a class team, ensuring clear communication, role-modelling best practice, and supporting professional development.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Has experience or a genuine interest in working with SLD/PMLD students and learners with complex needs.

  • Is confident planning and delivering differentiated, sensory-based lessons.

  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding, medical protocols, and personalised learning approaches.

  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork, patience, and adaptability.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply!
