Join Our Academy – Autism Teaching Assistant 
Location: Wallington, London | Start Date: ASAP | Contract: Full-time | Salary: £90 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Autism Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.

At our school, we pride ourselves on offering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that helps every student thrive – both academically and emotionally.

Our school stand out, they provide a holistic and nurturing approach and it can range from; younger students having enrichment activities, which include Rock Climbing, Swimming, Horse Riding, and a huge range of other sports. The Upper School students take Option Subjects to enrich their learning. We have also just started delivering A-Level Photography and Art in our Sixth Form.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support & Supervision: Provide tailored support to all students, ensuring their safety and full access to learning and therapeutic activities, including Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) and Occupational Therapy (OT).

  • Individual Programmes: Assist in developing and delivering Individual Programmes of Academic and Pastoral Support, working collaboratively with teaching and therapy teams.

  • Positive Relationships: Build constructive and purposeful relationships with students, actively engaging with them in all aspects of school life.

  • Inclusion & Behaviour: Promote the inclusion of every student, including those displaying challenging behaviours, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.

  • Interactive Learning: Encourage participation in class activities and peer interactions, supporting learning through teacher-led initiatives.

  • Promote Growth: Set high expectations to nurture self-esteem, independence, and personal development.

  • Feedback & Care: Provide insightful feedback on student progress and pastoral needs under teacher guidance, and support personal care routines when required.

  • Learning Activities: Undertake structured and agreed learning activities or teaching programmes, adjusting tasks based on student responses, including therapeutic interventions.

  • ICT Support: Support the use of ICT in learning activities, encouraging students to develop their skills and independence through technology.

  • Resource Management: Prepare, maintain, and manage equipment and resources needed for lessons and learning activities, assisting students in their use.

Supportive of outbursts and dysregulation, and offer reassurance. Excellent communication and de-escalation skills. A patient, consistent, and empathetic approach to mentoring.
