About the Role
Behaviour Mentor / SEMH Teaching Assistant – ASAP Start
Merton and Wandsworth - South West London
£90 – £100 per day (PAYE)
Full-time | Term time only | Long-term to permanent
Some young people need more than lessons. They need patience, consistency, and someone who believes in them.
I am working with a specialist provision across Merton and Wandsworth, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and those at risk of exclusion.
Every day is about helping young people feel safe, valued, and capable of success, no matter how many challenges they’ve faced before.
The Role
- Support students in small groups or one-to-one
- Help pupils regulate emotions and rebuild confidence
- Implement wellbeing and behaviour strategies with teachers and therapists
- Provide calm, nurturing support through moments of challenge
- Build strong, trusting relationships based on respect and empathy
About You
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or at-risk backgrounds
- Calm, empathetic, and able to hold firm but kind boundaries
- Believe in restorative, trauma-informed approaches
- Background in SEN schools, PRUs, or youth/community work is beneficial
- Proactive and reflective, with a genuine passion for helping young people
