You would have primary responsibility of one pupil; however, there would be a requirement to assist across other classes if needed.
What to expect as an Autism Specialist
Integrating the creative arts into the curriculum such as music, art, drama and dance
As an Autism Support Worker, you will participate in a wide range of activities to promote the pupils' cognitive, cultural, social, physical, and emotional well-being.
You must work alongside the teacher to create a plan and deliver learning activities
You must monitor how the children are developing and set targets for them to reach
Work alongside different professionals, including nurses, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Langauge Therapists.
As an Autism Support Worker, you will have to interact with the children through the use of play-based and sensory-related activities.
The Ideal Autism Specialist
Has a personal interest in working with young people with Autism and associated learning difficulties
Already has some experience working with children with Special needs
The ideal Autism Support Worker will be able to build strong and meaningful relationships with staff and students

The School
This is a specialist SEMH provision, not a Pupil Referral Unit. The provision aims to provide a nurturing and therapeutic educational experience through personalised learning and development by offering young people a physical, intellectual, emotional and social curriculum, ensuring they meet each pupil's needs individually.
You would work alongside a team of experienced, dedicated staff who focus on the children's positive attributes. These pupils will all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Some will also have additional needs such as Autism and ADHD.

We are working with a range of fantastic schools in the London borough of Ealing to find Graduate Teaching Assistants to support students with additional needs, this role in particular is to support KS1 students within a Mainstream Primary School each with an individual EHCP (Education Health Care Plan), the students within this school require extra support inside and outside of the classroom, you would need to manage behaviour, re-direct them to their classwork, work on social skills and communication skills, and other general support.

Do you have a passion and talent for supporting children and young people who cannot access mainstream education due to their social, emotional and mental health?
We are looking for an experienced Learning Mentor for a year 10 class of 8 students, this will be a class-based role supporting the behaviour of the learners.
This role is based within a SEMH specialist setting in Newham, for students who for many reasons are unable to access mainstream education.
Even if your experience is informal/voluntary, we want to hear from you! The children you will support will have a variety of needs which can include significant complex behavioural challenges.
