About the Role

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant 

Islington 
Starting 17th November

We are supporting a mainstream school in Islington who are lookng for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a pupil will be be moving from a Pupil Referral Unit through an EHCP consultation to the mainstream setting in mid-November. There is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child transitioning from a PRU to a mainstream environment. The pupil has SEMH nees and a diagnosis of ASC. Someone with a nurturing but boundaried approach, with knowledge of trauma and informed practice is really important. 

The Role

  • Providing consistent nurturing support while maintaining clear boundaries.

  • Applying trauma-informed practices to promote emotional well-being and engagement.

  • Supporting the pupil in class, during structured activities, and unstructured times such as break and lunch.

  • Helping the pupil build confidence, resilience, and independence.

  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, families, and external professionals to deliver tailored support and monitor progress.

  • Being a positive role model and helping the pupil to develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour.

About You

  • Experienced in supporting children with SEMH needs or highly motivated to learn and develop in this area.

  • Patient, empathetic, adaptable, and resilient in a challenging but rewarding environment.

  • Knowledgeable about trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches.

  • Able to maintain a nurturing but firm, boundary-based approach. 

  • Committed to helping children transition successfully from PRU to mainstream education and supporting their academic and personal development.

SEN Teacher – ASC Enfield January – July 2026 (2 terms) Are you an experienced and passionate teacher looking for a role making a real difference to young people with ASC? We are working with a special school in Enfield seeking a Year 2 Teacher to join their supportive team. You will be responsible for teaching a small class of 7 pupils, all on the autism spectrum, with varying abilities—some working below national curriculum levels, and some engaging with elements of Year 1 curriculum. You will work alongside 2 support staff to deliver a tailored, engaging curriculum that meets each child’s individual needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in ASC, special education, or SEND settings who thrives in a collaborative, nurturing environment.
