About the Role

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term Role
Location: Sutton and Merton (SW London)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support pupils across mainstream and SEND school environments.

About the Role:
You will be working on a one-to-one basis with pupils with a range of complex needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Sensory processing difficulties
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Complex medical or developmental needs
  • Communication difficulties and associated behaviours

Your role will involve providing consistent, nurturing and tailored support that promotes engagement, independence and emotional well-being, working closely with class teachers and other professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils in class and in dedicated SEN spaces
  • Implementing individualised strategies and behaviour support plans
  • Using therapeutic approaches and resources to aid regulation and communication
  • Encouraging participation and learning through structured and adapted activities
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families

You may have experience in:

  • PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
  • Makaton
  • Social Stories and Visual Supports
  • Sensory Circuits and sensory regulation techniques
  • Supporting through therapeutic interventions and personalised routines

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, resilient and empathetic
  • Confident in supporting children with varied and complex needs
  • Able to adapt quickly and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Committed to providing inclusive, child-centred support
