About the Role
SEND Teacher – Special School (Sutton)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: M1 – M6 (Inner/Outer London weighting as applicable)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and well-resourced special school in Sutton from January 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity suitable for both experienced SEND practitioners and passionate mainstream teachers looking to transition into special education.
Our pupils present with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), complex needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive education and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role
As a SEND Teacher, you will:

Plan, deliver and adapt engaging, personalised lessons to meet a wide range of special educational needs

Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Use a range of teaching strategies, including sensory-based and therapeutic approaches, to support learning

Assess, track and report on pupil progress in line with EHCP outcomes

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents/carers and external professionals

Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
-
Promote inclusion, independence and life skills for all pupils

Safeguard pupils and uphold the school’s policies and procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate
-
Holds QTS (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
-
Has experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly Autism, SLD, complex needs and/or SEMH (desirable but not essential)

Demonstrates patience, resilience and a child-centred approach
-
Is reflective, flexible and committed to ongoing professional development
-
Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
