Job Description
Do you hold BSL Level 2 (or are currently training towards it) and want to support hearing impaired children with their learning and communication needs? We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant with strong BSL skills to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brent. This school has a dedicated Hearing Impairment Provision, making it an excellent opportunity to develop your career in education while making a real difference.
About the School
Inclusive primary school for children aged 4–11
Specialist Hearing Impairment Provision with experienced staff
Some pupils may also have additional needs such as Autism, SEMH, or Visual Impairments
The school uses a multi-modal approach: BSL, SSE, spoken and written English
A strong focus on inclusion, deaf awareness, and community
Role Responsibilities
Support pupils with hearing impairments in both specialist and mainstream settings
Use BSL to aid learning and communication in class
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff as part of a skilled team
Take part in whole-school events, deaf awareness activities, and staff development
Help create an inclusive, supportive environment for all learners
Requirements
BSL Level 2 qualification (minimum) or currently training towards it
Confident using BSL in a classroom setting
Passionate about supporting children with diverse needs
Previous school or provision-based experience is desirable, but applications are welcome from those with BSL Level 2 looking to begin their education career
