About the Role
Clinical Lead for Children’s Speech and Language Therapy (Hybrid - 50% WFH)
Location: North London | Salary: Band 8a | Contract: Contract - Perm
A role where your leadership will truly shape SEND services.
As the Clinical Lead for Children’s Speech and Language Therapy, you will take charge of a team of skilled therapists dedicated to supporting children and young people (C&YP) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in North London. This pivotal role includes ensuring that C&YP with communication needs receive high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming therapy to thrive both in mainstream schools and specialist settings.
You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including education, health, and social care services, to provide integrated care pathways. In addition to clinical leadership, you will be expected to contribute to First-tier Tribunals (SEND), preparing expert witness statements and representing your team as a witness in hearings. Your expertise in SEND and therapeutic interventions will help drive positive outcomes for students with the highest support needs.
This role offers the flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing you to balance work-from-home days with in-person sessions.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of Speech and Language Therapists, overseeing day-to-day operations and clinical standards.

Contribute to SEND tribunals by preparing expert witness statements and appearing as a witness at hearings.

Develop and implement evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming therapeutic approaches that support inclusion for children with SEND.

Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Collaborate with the SEN Assessment and Placements Team to ensure EHC needs assessments and reports are completed within statutory timelines.

Drive the development of service-specific pathways, enhancing clinical structures and integrated working practices.

Work closely with families, therapists, and external partners to develop individual learning plans that meet EHCP targets.
Ideal Candidate:
-
Postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.

Significant experience working in SEND and leading clinical teams, ideally within a multi-disciplinary setting.

Strong background in preparing for and participating in SEND tribunals, including the provision of expert witness statements.

A leader with a commitment to promoting neurodiversity-affirming practices and evidence-based interventions.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations effectively.
