About the Role

Job Title: Complex Needs Support Assistant
Location: Havering
Pay: £85–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only | Long-term, Temp to Perm opportunity

“Some classrooms don’t speak in words — they speak in trust, stillness, and understanding.”

In a specialist school in Havering, learning takes many forms — often quiet, always meaningful. This is a setting for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), many of whom are non-verbal, have complex medical needs, and communicate in highly individual ways.

Here, education is led by connection. Progress isn’t measured in grades but in moments — a glance, a gesture, a sign of calm. Your role will be to notice, support, and provide a safe, consistent presence in an environment built on care and respect.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups, working closely with an experienced, nurturing team

  • Facilitating sensory-led and therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs

  • Aiding communication through approaches such as PECS, eye gaze, visual timetables, and switches

  • Assisting with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and hoisting (full training provided)

  • Creating a calm and secure atmosphere where pupils feel seen, heard, and valued

Who We’re Looking For:

  • No previous classroom experience needed — just empathy, patience, and a willingness to learn

  • Particularly suitable for those with backgrounds in care, youth work, support work, or SEND

  • Ideal for calm, observant individuals who find purpose in helping others flourish

  • Reflective team players who are open to training and committed to providing consistent, thoughtful support

What This School Offers:

  • A supportive, well-led environment where staff are genuinely valued

  • Continuous professional development and hands-on guidance from day one

  • A collaborative, caring culture where no one is left to face challenges alone

Why Join Through Parker Smith Inclusion?

  • Specialists in SEND recruitment with a strong focus on values and long-term fit

  • PAYE only – no umbrella companies, no hidden deductions

  • Dedicated support throughout your placement

  • A people-first, honest approach that prioritises wellbeing and development
