About the Role

Hair and Beauty Instructor (BTEC Level 2)
Location: London Borough of Redbridge

Are you an experienced Hairdresser with a passion for passing on your knowledge?

I am working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in the London Borough of Redbridge, which is seeking a dedicated Hair and Beauty Instructor. This a brand new purpose built Hair & Beauty Salon and you will be able to be a part of something new within this school which is a great opportunity for someone proactive and ready to make a difference. They cater to students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs who are unable to attend mainstream education. Your role will involve teaching and guiding these students through their BTEC Level 2 Hair and Beauty qualification, helping them develop essential vocational skills and personal growth.  

About the Role: As a Hair and Beauty Tutor in this specialist PRU, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons to students with complex emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with other staff members to support the students' academic and social development, providing a safe and nurturing environment that encourages positive learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver BTEC Level 2 Hair and Beauty lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Provide practical and theoretical instruction, assessing student progress and ensuring they meet the BTEC course requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider SEMH team, helping to create a supportive, calm, and structured learning environment.
  • Use your skills and knowledge to motivate and inspire students, helping them develop vocational skills while also supporting their emotional and behavioural development.
  • Understand and manage challenging behaviour, using strategies to engage students effectively.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience teaching Hair and Beauty, ideally with BTEC Level 2 or similar vocational qualifications.
  • A relevant Hair and Beauty qualification (a teaching qualification is desirable but not essential).
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, or in a similar setting such as a PRU, would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to teaching students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
  • A passion for supporting vulnerable young people and helping them succeed both personally and academically.

School Counsellor SEMH School ASAP start Full time or part time A specialist school in North East London is recruiting for a dedicated and qualified Counsellor to join its Therapy team, and provide essential support for students with SEMH. About the Role As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll work closely with other professionals to deliver tailored therapeutic support to students. This role would suit someone with experience in a special needs environment, but we also encourage applications from newly qualified Counsellors ready to bring fresh energy and commitment to this important role. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate your own caseload, implementing personalised EHCP/treatment plans. Plan and deliver interventions for individual or group therapy Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to annual review processes. Build and sustain close working relationships with teaching and support staff to ensure therapy aligns with the school’s ethos and statutory regulations.
