About the Role

HLTA – SEND Focus – Mainstream Primary (Barking & Dagenham)

Location: Barking & Dagenham (Mainstream Primary)
Pay: £120 – £130 per day (PAYE)

Temp-to-perm opportunity after 24 weeks

Do you have the confidence to lead interventions, adapt learning for pupils with additional needs, and provide meaningful support across the primary age range?

A vibrant mainstream primary school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong SEND focus. You’ll be supporting children with a range of needs including autism, speech & language difficulties, ADHD, and social/emotional challenges, while also covering lessons and running small-group work.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting

  • Confidence to deliver interventions and differentiated activities

  • Ability to cover lessons, lead small groups, and support pupils 1:1 when needed

  • Strong knowledge of strategies for children with autism, social communication needs, and dysregulated behaviour

  • A HLTA qualification (desirable but not essential)
