As an Outreach Tutor, you’ll bring learning and encouragement directly to students with Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and SEMH needs, whether that’s in a library, a community space, or their own home. Every session is a chance to help a child take a step forward, however small. KS3 Nurture Teacher – SEMH / Therapeutic Location: Richmond, South West London (Outer London) Salary: £194.21 - £258.84, MPS (Outer London) | PAYE only Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent (term-time only) Start date: October half-term The role We are partnering with a therapeutic SEMH specialist school in Richmond to appoint a KS3 Nurture Teacher. The school supports pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to complex SEMH needs, often alongside Autism (ASC). You will deliver a nurture-based curriculum (KS2–KS3), prioritising emotional regulation, relationships and readiness to learn. What is it like working in a SEMH school? Every day is different. Routines help, but no two days are the same; you must be flexible and ready to adapt. Relationships come first. Success depends on building trust and consistency with students before academic progress can happen. There will be highs and lows. You’ll see challenging behaviours and setbacks, but also incredible breakthroughs when a student feels safe enough to engage. Teamwork is essential. You work closely with therapists, teachers, TAs, and pastoral staff in a joined-up, therapeutic approach. Do you want to use your experience to provide personalised, meaningful education for children who cannot currently attend school? We are working with a well-regarded SEND service that supports children and young people across Kingston and Richmond boroughs. This long-term role involves delivering 1:1 tuition sessions to students with a range of needs, including Autism, SEMH, SLD, MLD, SpLD, and SLCN, either in the child’s home or in local community settings. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced TAs, HLTAs, or behaviour mentors who are confident in planning and delivering lessons independently and who have a passion for nurturing students outside the traditional classroom environment.
