About the Role
Lead Speech & Language Therapist – Band 8
Central London (Clinic-based) | Part time or Full time
Start date: Flexible - ASAP
Helping children find their voice, and helping families feel heard, is work filled with depth, care and purpose.
This long-established paediatric therapy service has been supporting children and families for over 20 years. Rooted in sensory integration and evidence-based practice, they have built a strong reputation for thoughtful, holistic therapy and genuine collaboration. Their ethos is simple; high-quality intervention, a warm and welcoming culture, and unwavering commitment to each child’s potential.
They are now ready to expand their offer.
We are looking for a Lead Speech & Language Therapist (Band 8) to shape, grow and lead a dedicated SaLT service within an already well-established paediatric clinic. This isn’t just about joining a service. It’s about building one. With the backing of an experienced OT team, a loyal client base and a collaborative leadership group.
You might already be leading a small team and feel ready for more ownership. You might be a highly experienced Senior/Highly Specialist Therapist who knows you’re ready to step into a true leadership remit.
The role
Working from their welcoming central London clinic, you will:
- Lead the development of the speech therapy service, shaping pathways, standards and models of delivery
- Hold a specialist paediatric caseload (e.g. autism, DLD, speech sound disorders, social communication needs, early language)
- Collaborate closely with the established OT team, co-creating multidisciplinary plans that honour sensory, motor, communication and emotional needs
- Design and refine systems and processes for triage, assessments, therapy blocks, review and discharge
- Provide clinical supervision and leadership to SaLT colleagues as the service grows
- Deliver training and workshops for parents, schools and professionals
Clinic-based work is at the heart of the role, with scope to include remote work as the service expands.
The environment
You will be joining:
- An experienced, SI-informed OT team with strong clinical expertise
- A genuinely multidisciplinary culture where professionals work together
- A leadership team who value reflective practice, CPD and thoughtful growth
- A service that sees the whole family, not just the presenting need, and places collaboration at the centre
It’s collaborative. It’s curious. And it’s kind.
About you
You will likely:
- Be an experienced Band 8 (or strong Band 7 ready to step up) HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist
- Have substantial paediatric experience, ideally including autism, neurodevelopmental needs and complex communication profiles
- Be confident with assessment, differential diagnosis and evidence-based intervention
- Have experience supervising others and contributing to service design
- Enjoy thinking at system level; pathways, outcomes, quality, family experience
- Value neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice
Most importantly, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to shape a service, building something new on top of an already strong, respected foundation.
