About the Role
Nurture Teacher – KS3 SEMH | September 2025 Start
Location: Mole Valley, Surrey | Contract: Long-Term to Permanent
Salary: £170 - £232 PAYE per day, in line with £33,075 - £45,307 MPS Fringe
You became a teacher to change lives. This is the kind of role where that actually happens.
You are not juggling 30 pupils in this role. You are not being pulled in ten directions with no time to breathe. Instead, you are working with a small group of KS3 students who have faced more than their fair share of disruption, often shaped by diagnoses like Autism, ADHD, and SEMH. They now need someone calm, creative and consistent, someone who sees the person before the pupil.
That someone could be you.
Why this school? Why now?
This isn’t a setting where you’ll be left to sink or swim. It’s a close-knit, supportive team who deeply believe in second chances. The students are grouped thoughtfully, supported by trained LSAs, and benefit from an embedded therapeutic approach that values emotional development as much as academic growth.
And unlike some SEMH settings, you will be genuinely teaching here.
Your role in a nutshell:
- Lead a KS3 ‘Nurture and Development’ class of around 6-8 students
- Deliver creative, differentiated lessons across core subjects, with flexibility built in
- Embed emotional literacy, self-regulation, and trust into your daily practice
- Collaborate with therapists, behaviour leads, and SLTs who are as invested as you are
- Help young people rebuild their confidence, rediscover learning, and move forward
What we are looking for and what you will bring:
- QTS: either Primary-trained or cross-phase with experience at KS2/KS3
- Real experience supporting children with SEMH, Autism and/or complex behaviour
- Confidence with behaviour that challenges and the reflective mindset to handle it
- A gentle authority, a sense of humour, and a deeply human approach to teaching
- Bonus points if you’ve worked in specialist provisions, PRUs or APs, but we’re open to mainstream teachers ready to make the leap
What you’ll get in return:
- Small class sizes where you can genuinely connect and see progress
- A team that values wellbeing and doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff
- Long-term to permanent opportunity on PAYE, no umbrella, no hidden deductions
- Daily rate of £170 to £1232 PAYE, salary matched to MPS Fringe (£33,075 - £45,307)
- Ongoing CPD and development in trauma-informed practice, behaviour support, and specialist SEN
This is the role for someone who’s still passionate about teaching, but wants it to count.
