About the Role

Outreach Tutor – Support Students with Autism, ADHD & SEMH Needs
Working across Richmond and Kingston boroughs | £130 per day (PAYE – term time only) | Full-time – Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4pm | September start

Not all classrooms have four walls…

Some students need something different. Some learn better in a quiet library than in a busy corridor. Some need to rebuild their trust in education before they can even begin to think about Maths or English.

This role is about offering consistent, tailored academic and emotional support to young people outside of traditional school settings. You’ll meet them where they are, quite literally, in homes, public learning spaces, or community locations. Every session, you’ll help them take a step forward, no matter how small.

What does an Outreach Tutor do?

  • Deliver one-to-one tutoring in core subjects like English and Maths
  • Support children aged 5–16 with Autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, and SEMH needs
  • Travel across Richmond and Kingston boroughs to meet learners in the community
  • Encourage social interaction, emotional regulation and resilience through personalised learning
  • Build meaningful relationships with students who may not have accessed education for some time
  • Use a consistent, child-centred approach grounded in patience, trust, and calm structure
  • Collaborate with professionals involved in the young person’s care or support plan when needed

Is this you?

  • A graduate in Psychology, Education, Youth Work, Social Work, or a related field
  • A calm, reliable person with strong interpersonal instincts
  • Comfortable working independently, managing your diary and adapting to student needs
  • Passionate about making education accessible for all, especially those who feel left behind
  • Experience working with young people in education, mental health, youth work, or care is a bonus,  but not essential
  • Must be able to travel across Kingston and Richmond (own transport is helpful but not essential)

Why this role matters:

  • You’ll help students re-engage with learning and take steps toward reintegration
  • You’ll gain invaluable experience supporting children with complex needs, perfect for those interested in teaching, therapy, or educational psychology
  • You’ll see tangible, emotional progress, not just academically, but in confidence, self-esteem, and connection
  • No two days are the same; you’ll work across varied environments, learning styles, and personalities
  • It’s meaningful, human work, and that’s why people who do it tend to remember it forever

What we offer:

  • £130 per day (paid weekly via PAYE – no umbrella deductions)
  • A supportive consultant who understands the emotional side of this role, not just the logistics
  • Training in trauma-informed and relational approaches
  • Guidance and mentoring to help you grow in the role
  • Long-term opportunities across South West London
  • A route into therapy, teaching, or SEND careers

Learning Mentor

Richmond
South West London
£475 - £500 PAYE per week
Learning Mentor – Secondary SEMH School – Twickenham Twickenham, Richmond Borough | September 2025 | Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, term time only | Temp to permanent | £95–£100 per day (PAYE only – no umbrella deductions) Some young people just don’t fit the mould, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve somewhere to thrive. We’re working with a small, specialist secondary school in Twickenham that supports students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Autism and ADHD. Many of these pupils have been excluded from mainstream settings or struggled with trust and relationships. But when they feel safe and understood, everything starts to change. This school isn’t about control, consequence or punishment. It’s about connection, calm boundaries and showing up, every day, for the students who need you most. What does a Learning Mentor actually do? You’ll be that steady, consistent presence for a young person who might never have had one. Someone they can rely on, not just to help with learning, but to help them regulate when things feel overwhelming. You’ll be based in class and around school, supporting students who need extra help to focus, feel safe, and engage with learning. Some days will be smooth, others more challenging, but with the right mindset, it’s one of the most meaningful roles out there. You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to understand each student’s story and help shape the support they receive. This might be a great fit if you: Have experience supporting young people with SEMH, autism or additional needs, whether in schools, youth work, care or mental health Know how to stay calm and grounded when things get heated Are emotionally intelligent and not afraid of difficult conversations Believe in patience, kindness, and holding boundaries with empathy Want to be part of a team that really gets it, and will have your back Why this school? It’s small, calm and genuinely therapeutic, not chaotic Trauma-informed practice is embedded throughout You’ll be trained, supported and valued There’s a real opportunity for growth and a strong chance of a permanent role if it’s the right fit. At Parker Smith Inclusion, we specialise exclusively in SEND recruitment. Our reputation is built on integrity and expertise. With over 350 five-star Google reviews, we are committed to finding the right leadership opportunities for exceptional educators. Why work with us? Tailored matches – We don’t send your CV around randomly. We listen and match you carefully. Exclusive roles – Many of our vacancies come to us first because schools trust our approach. Genuine insight – We can tell you what the team is like, how the school works, and what to expect. No umbrella payroll – PAYE only, always. No nasty surprises. Interview support – We’ll prep you thoroughly so you feel confident walking in. Specialist settings – We work with schools that support SEMH, ASC, ADHD, EBSA and more. If you’re looking for a challenging, rewarding role that actually makes a difference, this could be the one. Apply now or get in touch with Heeji Moon at Parker Smith Inclusion.
