About the Role
PMLD Support Assistant
Location: Havering
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only | Long-term placement

A specialist school in Havering is looking for a dedicated PMLD Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with at least a year of experience in SEND and a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, ready to take on a role that truly makes a difference.
About the School
This is a nurturing, inclusive environment for pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and associated complex needs. Learners may be non-verbal, use wheelchairs, and require high levels of personalised support. Classrooms range from calm, sensory-focused spaces to more active and physically demanding environments, but every setting shares the same commitment: to protect dignity, encourage progress, and support each child’s individual journey.
What You’ll Be Doing

Delivering 1:1 and small-group support in line with EHCPs and learning plans

Supporting sensory, therapeutic, and play-based activities

Using tools such as PECS, visual timetables, and assistive technology to aid communication

Assisting with personal care needs including feeding, toileting, and hoisting (training provided)

Creating a safe, structured, and positive environment where pupils can thrive
What We’re Looking For
-
At least 1 year’s experience working with children or young people with SEND
-
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Confidence in supporting pupils with PMLD, physical disabilities, or complex needs
-
Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to challenges

Strong teamwork skills and a genuine passion for inclusive education
