About the Role
PRU Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Impact
Location: Ilford / Barking & Dagenham
Pay: £85-£100 per day (PAYE)
Can you think of a time when you needed someone to truly see past your behaviour and understand what you were going through?
For many young people in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), their actions don’t always reflect their true potential - they are a response to challenges, frustrations, and feeling unheard. PRUs provide a vital opportunity for these students to rebuild their confidence, re-engage with learning, and feel genuinely valued. With the right support, they can overcome barriers and thrive.
Why work in a PRU?
- Smaller class sizes allow for stronger relationships and a more personalised approach to learning
- A bespoke curriculum tailored to individual needs, helping students rediscover a love for education
- A therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to behaviour, focusing on support and understanding rather than punishment
- A school culture that prioritises emotional well-being, ensuring students feel safe and supported
- The chance to make a tangible impact, helping young people regain confidence in their future
Why work with Parker Smith Inclusion?
- Access to CPD to enhance your skills and career prospects
- PAYE payments – no umbrella companies or hidden deductions
- Exclusive access to alternative education roles, ensuring we find the best fit for you
- A knowledgeable and supportive team that truly understands the challenges and rewards of this sector
PRUs are not just about education - they are about giving students the opportunity to reset, refocus, and build a brighter future. If you're passionate about making a difference and want to explore opportunities in alternative education, I’d love to chat.
