We are partnering with a number of specialist schools and alternative provisions in Wembley who are looking for passionate, committed school-based youth workers to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This is a full-time, term-time opportunity, ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, mentoring, behaviour support, sports coaching or community engagement who want to make a meaningful transition into education.

Your role as a School-Based Youth Worker

You will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, understood and motivated to engage with education. Many of the young people you support may present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, or have experienced trauma. Your presence will help them develop confidence, self-control and positive relationships.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leads and external professionals, you will help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve personal success.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring to support emotional regulation and behaviour

  • Building strong, nurturing relationships that promote trust and engagement

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom to encourage focus, participation and positive conduct

  • Promoting self-esteem and emotional well being through structured interventions

  • Supporting the development of social and communication skills

  • Acting as a positive role model for young people

  • Encouraging involvement in enrichment activities such as sport, creative arts or outdoor learning
