About the Role

Post-16 SEMH Teacher
East London
Temp to Perm

Are you a dedicated Post-16 Teacher, ready to join a specialist SEMH school in East London. This school provides vital education and support to students who face significant challenges and cannot access mainstream education. Many of these young people have experienced trauma, toxic stress, and adversity, meaning they require a therapeutic approach to their learning journey.

We work closely with education providers that support some of the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach young people in our communities. Before academic progress can be made, their SEMH needs must be met with understanding, patience, and care. We are searching for teachers who can make a lasting, positive impact on these students’ lives.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to deliver a therapeutic teaching approach that prioritises emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies, helping students feel safe and supported in their learning. As a positive role model, you’ll foster communication with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach, using de-escalation techniques to promote positive behaviour management. You'll be working closely with students who have SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds, sensory processing challenges, and social communication difficulties, ensuring that their individual needs are met. Some experience in online teaching would be beneficial, but most importantly, your ability to build strong, meaningful relationships with vulnerable students will be key to their success. If you have experience working with disengaged teenagers and a passion for making a real difference, this could be the perfect role for you.

What’s in It for You?

  • A deeply rewarding experience: Make a meaningful impact on students who need support the most. Witness their progress, growth, and confidence flourish under your guidance.

  • Professional development: Gain specialised training in SEMH teaching strategies, trauma-informed practices, and therapeutic approaches to education.

  • Supportive team environment: Work within a passionate and dedicated team that shares your commitment to transforming young lives.

  • Career progression opportunities: Access pathways to leadership roles, additional qualifications, and further professional growth in the SEND sector.

  • Work-life balance: Enjoy a structured environment that prioritises both student and teacher well-being.

  • A unique teaching experience: Every day is different, offering challenges and opportunities to develop creative and flexible teaching methods.

Why Work With Us?

  • Access to exclusive job opportunities: We collaborate with a range of schools, local authorities, and educational organisations, giving you access to roles that may not be publicly advertised.

  • Specialist SEND expertise: Our in-depth knowledge of the SEND education sector means we understand school hiring practices and can guide you effectively through the job search process.

  • CV and application support: We help refine your application materials, ensuring you stand out to prospective schools.

  • Interview coaching: Our tailored preparation sessions boost your confidence and readiness for interviews.

  • Salary negotiation guidance: We help secure competitive pay, including SEN points, TLRs, and other benefits.

  • One application, multiple opportunities: Save time by submitting one application with us and gaining access to multiple roles.

  • Ongoing support: From contract negotiations to relocation advice, we’re with you every step of the way.

If you believe you could be a valuable addition to the team, we’d love to hear from you! Apply now or reach out to elisha@psinclusion.co.uk to start the conversation.
