About the Role

Learning Support Assistant – Key Stage 2

Location: Havering | £85 - 90 per day | PAYE only | Temp to Perm

The moment everything changes?
It’s often quiet. It’s not always the big lesson, or the breakthrough on a worksheet. It’s when a child who usually avoids eye contact asks if you’re in tomorrow. When they hand you a drawing they made just for you. When they finally let you in.

If you’ve worked in KS2, you know how much these moments mean, because by this age, some children are already worn down by school. Behaviour plans, detentions, misread signals. Often, their needs aren’t being met, and they don’t have the words to tell you that. But you notice the signs.

You tune in. You stay consistent. And slowly, they trust you.

This Outstanding primary school in Havering is proud of its inclusive practice, but more than that, they invest in it. That means you’ll be part of a support team that meets regularly, reflects together, and has the leadership backing to actually implement what works.

They are looking for someone with:

  • Emotional maturity

  • A calm, grounded presence

  • A genuine interest in the why behind a child’s behaviour

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up every day ready to care, adapt, and learn. This is a temp-to-perm role because the school is looking to build long-term relationships—with staff as well as students.
