About the school
Some schools feel special the moment you walk through the door, calm, happy, and filled with genuine warmth. This is one of those schools.
We are working with an Outstanding specialist school in Kingston upon Thames, supporting children and young people aged 4 to 19 with severe and Profound Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD), Autism (ASC), and complex communication and sensory needs.
Many of the pupils are non-verbal and communicate through AAC systems, PECS, or Makaton. Others have physical and medical needs and take part in hydrotherapy and sensory-based learning. Every aspect of this school has been thoughtfully designed around what pupils need to thrive — from light-filled classrooms and therapy suites to hydrotherapy pools and outdoor sensory spaces.
The curriculum and approach
The curriculum is creative, child-centred, and experiential, focusing on:
- Communication and interaction
- Independence and self-help skills
- Physical development and sensory exploration
- Emotional well-being and social connection
Teachers are encouraged to use music, art, movement, and sensory storytelling to spark engagement and joy in learning.
You’ll work as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, HLTAs, and support staff, who collaborate every day to celebrate progress and unlock potential.
