Salary: £90 - £100 per day

About the Role
We are always seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive schools in the London Borough of Hackney. This is a full-time position, requiring commitment to five days a week, where you will work closely with children who require tailored support to thrive both academically and socially.
If you do not have experience within a school but have experience with young children in another capacity with a positive attitude and compassionate personality I still encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN needs, including Autism, sensory processing difficulties, and moderate learning challenges.
- Implement and support communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and Now and Next boards to enhance pupil engagement and understanding.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored interventions to help regulate behaviour and support emotional well-being.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other professionals to adapt lessons and learning materials to meet individual needs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging their confidence and independence.
- Support sensory integration activities and create a calm, nurturing learning environment.
- Help maintain detailed records of pupil progress and contribute to regular reviews and assessments.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience working with children with SEN, including Autism, dysregulated behaviour, and sensory needs.
- Practical knowledge of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and Now and Next boards.
- Confidence in working with both individuals and small groups to support academic and social development.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
- A strong commitment to inclusion and a passion for supporting children with additional needs.
