SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Sutton and Merton
Salary: £90 - £95
Contract: Full-Time / Term-Time Only
Start Date: September 2025

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to thrive in education?
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school that supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and associated learning difficulties.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly supportive and inclusive environment where no two days are the same — and where the work you do genuinely transforms lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, under the direction of teaching staff.

  • Help implement individual learning and behaviour plans, adapting strategies to suit the unique needs of each child.

  • Foster strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional wellbeing, confidence, and independence.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver a holistic educational experience.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in managing their own emotional regulation.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with SEMH, autism, and ADHD.

  • Be calm, patient, and adaptable, with a strong sense of empathy.

  • Be a team player with good communication skills.

  • Have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

  • Hold relevant qualifications or be willing to undergo training.
