About the Role
Teaching Assistants (Autism Specialist) – Merton
Full-time | Long-term | £90–£95 per day | ASAP Start | Secondary Age Pupils

Are you a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Autism?
We are working with a special school in Merton seeking three dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their supportive and forward-thinking team.
About the Role/The School
- You’ll be supporting students with a primary diagnosis of Autism, with some pupils also presenting with ADHD and challenging behaviours.
- This is a flexible, whole-school role — you will not be based in one class but will work across the school, offering targeted and consistent support wherever needed.
- The role requires adaptability, resilience, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
- Work is fully differentiated for each student according to their learning styles and individual needs
- Students also have access to a range of therapies in school, based on their EHCP requirements.
- Working alongside and making use of: occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, counselling, art therapy, CAMHS, music therapy, Lego therapy, ELSA, and a number of targeted interventions.
- Use of Zones of Regulation built in conjunction with the therapy teams
- Whole school sensory routine that staff are trained to use throughout the day to support our students with self-regulation.
Requirements
- Experience supporting secondary-aged students is essential.
- Previous school-based experience (ideally within a SEN setting).
- DBS - Child and Adult Workforce subscribed to the Update Service or willing to pay and process a new one
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
