SEN Teaching Assistant – Support, Encourage, Empower
Location: Sutton
Salary: £85 - £95 per day (PAYE)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2025

About the school:
Our school is a vibrant and inclusive special school for pupils aged 7–18, located in Sutton. We support students with a wide range of needs including Autism, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Our school is committed to delivering creative, personalised learning in a supportive environment that encourages every pupil to grow in confidence, achieve their best, and develop key life skills.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of our students. You’ll help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment and provide hands-on support with learning activities, communication, personal care (if required), and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:

Support individual pupils or small groups with their learning and development

Assist with the delivery of tailored curriculum content, including life skills and enrichment activities

Help implement strategies to manage behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing

Provide support with sensory or communication needs, including use of tools like PECS or Makaton

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
What We’re Looking For:

A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs

Previous experience in a school or SEN setting is desirable but not essential

A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Safeguarding)
