About the Role
SEND Learning Support Assistant – A Role That Changes Lives
Location: Barking & Dagenham
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (PAYE only)
Start Date: Flexible
Temp to Perm Opportunity
Some roles simply ask you to show up. This one invites you to make a difference.
We’re working with an inclusive and forward-thinking school in Barking & Dagenham that’s looking for a compassionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a space where support isn’t just provided—it’s woven into the culture. Every child is seen, heard, and valued for exactly who they are.
What Makes This Opportunity Special?
A Purpose-Driven Setting
In this classroom, success isn’t measured by standardised tests—it’s measured in smiles, breakthroughs, and the small steps that add up to something powerful. You’ll support students with autism, ADHD, and a range of learning differences, offering them not only academic guidance but emotional stability and encouragement.
Collaborative, Thoughtful Teaching
You won’t be on your own. Here, teachers, support staff, and leadership work together closely to ensure each student gets what they need—whether that’s a personalised learning strategy or just someone who knows when to sit quietly beside them. It’s a team effort, and you’ll feel it from day one.
Professional and Personal Growth
You’ll learn just as much as you teach. Every day will deepen your knowledge of SEND education—whether through hands-on experience, in-house training, or conversations with expert colleagues. If you’re considering a longer-term career in education, this is the perfect environment to develop your skills.
Your Day-to-Day Will Involve:
-
Working closely with students on Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), providing tailored support
-
Helping children develop communication, social, and emotional regulation skills
-
Supporting students in the classroom and during structured activities
-
Contributing to a calm, consistent, and encouraging learning environment
-
Working alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams as part of a cohesive unit
What We’re Looking For:
-
Experience supporting children or young people in schools, youth services, or care roles
-
An understanding that every behaviour communicates a need
-
A warm, steady presence who can offer patience, empathy, and encouragement
-
A real passion for helping children with SEND thrive—not just academically, but personally
What You’ll Gain:
-
A meaningful, rewarding role with clear purpose
-
Supportive colleagues who value your voice and contribution
-
A pathway to long-term opportunities, including permanent roles and training options
-
PAYE pay with no umbrella deductions
-
The chance to be part of something bigger than a job: a mission to change lives
