SEND Teaching Assistant
Specialising in Autism & Complex Needs

Location: London
Contract: Temp to Perm Opportunity
Pay: £85–£100 per day (PAYE)

A warm, inclusive mainstream primary school in London is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their specialist Additional Resourced Provision (ARP). The ARP provides a calm, structured and supportive environment for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex learning needs, offering tailored support within a mainstream setting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a highly skilled team that makes a genuine difference in the lives of children who experience the world differently. The ARP focuses on building communication, independence, emotional regulation and life skills — all personalised to each learner’s needs.

What this role involves:

  • Supporting pupils with autism and complex needs within a purpose-built ARP

  • Delivering and adapting learning activities to suit a range of needs and abilities

  • Promoting communication using visuals, Makaton, objects of reference and sensory strategies

  • Facilitating structured play, emotional support and social interaction

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to provide consistent, joined-up support

  • Helping pupils feel safe, understood and confident in their learning environment

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have experience working with children or young people with SEND

  • You are confident using or willing to learn communication tools and strategies for autism support

  • You bring empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to behaviour and emotional regulation

  • You’re keen to develop your skills in a specialised provision within a mainstream school

  • You may be exploring a future in SEND education, therapy, psychology, or care

Whether you’re just starting out or ready to deepen your SEND experience, this role offers a chance to grow within a nurturing team and make a lasting difference.
