Teaching Assistant – Permanent Contract - £18000-21000 (Actual salary term time only) – Chelmsford

Are you a Teaching Assistant or Learning / Behaviour Mentor who is interested in working with young people with SEMH?

Are you able to draw on a wide range of social care and teaching strategies to implement plans to support a young person in need?

Parker Smith Inclusion are working with a specialist SEMH school in Chelmsford who educate some of the most vulnerable young people in society

About the school

The service caters to young people who have severe and complex social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and some with a dual diagnosis of autism (ASC) The young people may have also suffered severe trauma and adverse childhood experiences. The school team is made up of social workers, teachers, and support staff.

About the Teaching Assistant role

As a Teaching Assistant you will support young people both in full class and 1:1 settings. You will help to deliver classroom lessons, and related educational activities. You will act as a learning mentor and appropriate adult for young people in the school setting offering them emotional support and educational guidance. You will get the opportunity to have lots of specialist training around supporting young people with SEMH and ASC and other additional special educational needs.
