Therapeutic Education Teaching Assistant
Richmond, South West London

About the Role
- Full-time Therapeutic Education TA role within a specialist SEMH school
- Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and behaviour mentors to support students’ emotional regulation and access to learning
- Supporting young people aged 7–16 with needs such as ADHD, Autism, anxiety, trauma, and SEMH
- Providing calm, consistent, and structured support in class and during unstructured times

The Ideal Candidate
We welcome applications from psychology and criminology graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, and those with experience supporting vulnerable young people.
- Background in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Criminology, or a related field
- Experience with challenging behaviour or emotional dysregulation (in schools, youth work, or care)
- Resilient, calm, and able to build trust with young people
- Interest in trauma-informed and restorative practices
- A background or interest in sport, drama, or creative arts is a bonus!

The Role
You’ll be working in a small class (never more than 8 pupils), supported by a strong team of teaching assistants and an inspiring teacher who will guide you. You’ll support students with everything from sensory integration and communication to personal care and hydrotherapy sessions. One day might involve messy play and sensory stories, the next might be quiet and calm. No two days are the same, and that’s what makes it extraordinary.

You have experience with SEN or personal exposure to children with additional needs
