Job Title: Therapeutic Educational Practitioner (TEP) Location: Newham Salary: £110 - £120 PAYE per day Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm (term time only) The School: PS Inclusion are working within an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting, committed to creating a supportive, therapeutic environment for students in Key Stages 3 and 4. Their focus is on fostering the growth and development of young people who face challenges related to social anxiety, social skills, and difficulties in processing, understanding, and recalling spoken language. The Role: As a Therapeutic Educational Practitioner (TEP), you will be responsible for working with a small group of 6-8 students who require a tailored approach to learning. You will be a positive role model, committed to understanding and supporting the complex needs of each student. You will build strong, meaningful relationships, while also establishing clear, consistent boundaries that contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Support the social and emotional development of students, particularly in areas related to social anxiety and social skills. Facilitate small group sessions aimed at improving students' understanding, processing, and recall of spoken language. Work closely with students, building trust and nurturing their self-confidence in a way that promotes positive behavioral change. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement personalized education plans that meet the individual needs of each student. Actively participate in team meetings, training, and other activities related to therapeutic education to enhance the provision of support. Person Specification: Proven experience working with young people within an SEMH or therapeutic educational setting. A strong understanding of therapeutic education, with the ability to engage and build positive relationships with students who have complex needs. Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to meet the social and emotional needs of each student. An understanding of social anxiety, social skills challenges, and language processing difficulties, with practical strategies to support students facing these issues. A calm, patient, and resilient personality, with a commitment to maintaining professional boundaries.
